Postcard from Florida
17 MayLong overdue for a post as I have not posted since last December…
Recently I had the chance to visit Florida for the first time with some friends. A great time was had, we walked through the mangroves, checked out an awesome car show, visited a lighthouse, hung out at the local bar, enjoyed the beach and grilled some delicious food. We saw some very pretty jellyfish that seemed to float right back toward the shore after repeatedly being tossed into the sea. We saw lots of older folks in visors, people driving cars on the beach, fantastic 1950′s/60′s style ranch homes and lots of wildlife including lizards, pelicans, reys and egrets. We were there during super moon and Cinco de Mayo. I returned with a tan, some sand in my shoes and a few photos, enjoy. ; )
Christmas 2011
22 DecChristmas 2011 continued… I have just finished wrapping the last of my love’s presents (with snowflakes and BEARS!). I used my manual typewrite to add personalized tags. Soon we will be on our way to DC to spend Christmas with his family. Have a great holiday everyone!

Christmas 2011
12 DecToday my housemate and I picked up our little Christmas tree. Latter in the week we all made paper snowflakes to decorate the tree. I painted them with a clear, two-part lacquer-like substance to give them some rigidity and shine. For two days they hung on a line to dry which stretched across the living roomy. They came out quite nicely and the lacquer soaked into the paper giving them a transparency similar to that of parchment paper.

Photoshoot for Gentrifly
10 DecSomething old made new… Recently my friend Genevieve created a line of shirts for her new clothing company, Gentrifly. She sums up the vision/product line best in her own words:
A Philly based clothing design company using existing vintage materials to create new, interesting and intriguing designs fit for men and women.
All starting vintage pieces are hand-picked from local merchants in the Philadelphia area. The height of sustainability, no new clothing garments are purchased in the making of GentriFly pieces. GentriFly is proud to stimulate and bring attention to the Philadelphia art community by combining the sewing and design talents of Philly natives and importing the talents of Photographers, Graphic and Branding Artists, Merchandisers and Industrial Designers. Each final article of clothing is beautifully packaged in recycled materials, ready to gift or self-giving.
Starting with local, handpicked vintage button down men’s collared shirts, the company uses original designs to rework and resize the garment to custom fit and flatter male torsos and female figures. Guests will also have the opportunity to bring or pick an unaltered shirt for a custom made order.
I had the chance to spend the day in Rittenhouse with Genevieve and two of her very talented photographer friends. We had a great time and came out with some good shots, fun being on the other side of the camera once in a while!

15 NovMichael returned home from almost two months of touring with Purling Hiss recently. He traveled around with War on Drugs and Carter Tanton.
Back his apartment I got to catch up with my cool dog buddy Baxter, I missed Baxter and Mike! Later that night we caught the Wooden Shjips show at KFN then on Saturday over to Union Transfer to see the Kurt Vile show.
Mike sent some pretty postcards and brought back some awesome totes, a War on Drugs tote with album artwork and a tote from Permanent Records in LA.
